A man who allegedly robbed a bank Tuesday afternoon on Garland Groh Boulevard was apprehended about 10 minutes after fleeing the bank.

Hagerstown Police charged Collin Hinds, 41, of 300 Merbaugh Circle, with armed robbery, robbery, possession of a handgun in the commission of a felony, assault and theft.

Hinds entered Bulldog Federal Credit Union in Hagerstown about 2:45 p.m. with a handgun, police said. Hinds allegedly demanded money from bank employees and fled the bank.

Police would not say how much money Hinds allegedly stole.

Witnesses saw Hinds leave the bank and get into a vehicle. Police said the witnesses were able to describe the vehicle and tell police where Hinds was.

Police said that information helped police stop Hinds a few minutes later near McDonald's along Garland Groh Boulevard before he could leave the shopping center.

Police said Hinds was arrested without incident.

Hinds' bail had not been set Tuesday night, according to a spokeswoman at the Washington County Detention Center. He was awaiting an appearance before a commissioner.
