Army Pvt. Christina E. Carpenter, daughter of David and Joyce Carpenter of Hagerstown, recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Carpenter now is with C-CO, 16th Ordnance, BN, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md.

Carpenter is a 2005 graduate of Washington County Technical High School/North Hagerstown High School in Hagerstown.

Pfc. Greg Sandridge of Hagerstown, son of John and Fran Sandridge, and grandson of Lorraine Roy of Culpeper, Va., Elder John Marshall and the late Juanita Marshall, and the late Mabel and Charlie Sandridge, is working at Recruiting Substation Winchester (Va.) as a recruiter's assistant.

Sandridge graduated from Marine Corps Recruit Training at Parris Island, S.C., on Oct. 28, 2005.

After completing basic training, he attended Intelligence School in Dam Neck, Va., to train as an intelligence specialist.

Sandridge is a graduate of North Hagerstown High School.

Private 1st Class Brandon Clay Pauley, son of Daniel and Pamela Pauley, brother of Daniel O. Pauley, and grandson of Garfield Pauley, Carey and Donna Chaney, and Robert and Shirley Raifsnider, graduated from U.S. Marine Corps basic training on Jan. 6, 2006, where he earned honors of Meritorious Award, Marksmanship Medal and Religious Lay Reader Award.


Pauley is enrolled for a five-year service in the intelligence division.
