Auditions for medieval play



SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd University Rude Mechanicals Medieval and Renaissance Players will hold auditions for actors and dancers for "Mankind," a 15th-century morality play. Auditions will be held from 8 to 10 p .m. Wednesday, Jan 18, and Thursday, Jan. 19, in Reynolds Hall at Shepherd University.

Auditions for play



FREDERICK, Md. - Auditions for Way Off Broadway's spring production of the 1950s-based musical "Grease" will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at the theater, 5 Willowdale Drive.

All of the teen roles, Pink Ladies, Burger Palace Boys, Patty, Eugene, and Cha Cha are open. The adult roles of Miss Lynch, Vince Fountaine/Teen Angel, have been cast. Age range is the late teens to 20s. Those auditioning are asked to prepare 16 bars of music and be ready to sing, read and dance.

The show runs from March 24 through June 4.

Arts directory slots open



YORK, Pa. - The Cultural Alliance of York County invites working artists to apply as Artists in Education and to be included in the 2006 Directory of Pennsylvania Artists in Education. Applications are available on the Web at www.culturalalliance-york.org or by calling 1-717-812-9255.

Application deadline is Friday, Feb. 3. A peer review panel will schedule and observe artists with students in classrooms. The panel will then forward a list of recommended artists to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts for approval.




Pageant solicits contestants



Contestants are being sought for Mrs. Washington County International 2006 to compete in the Mrs. Maryland International pageant on Saturday, April 1, at Kent Island High School in Stevensville, Md.

All contestants must between the ages of 21 and 56, married for six months by July 2006, and either work, live or go to school in Maryland. Contestants will be competing in interview, aerobic wear, evening gown and platform. No talent or swimsuit. The winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to Chicago to compete in the nationals.
