Allison-Antrim meeting

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Allison-Antrim Museum will hold a meeting at 7 p.m. today in the downstairs social room of Evangelical Lutheran Church, 130 N. Washington St.

Joan Applegate will present the talk, "Plain Singing," which will explore several styles of hymn-singing once common in rural America.

Pancake breakfast and country butchering

Wilson Ruritan Club will offer an all-you-can-eat breakfast and country butchering at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Wilson Ruritan Club, one-fourth mile west of Huyetts Crossroads, U.S. 40.

The breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes with one serving of puddin' or sausage, coffee and orange juice. Meat goes on sale at 7 a.m. All proceeds benefit community projects.


Soup and potpie sale

SMITHSBURG - A soup and potpie sale will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Smithsburg Fire Hall.

The menu includes beef or chicken potpie, vegetable, chicken corn and ham bean soups, country ham sandwiches and steamers, and homemade pies. Eat-in or carryout is available.

Orders may be called in advance on Friday, Jan. 13, to 301-824-2889, or anytime by calling 301-824-5392. Walk-ins are welcome.

Food is by Smithsburg Volunteer Fire Co.'s ladies auxiliary.

Pork sale and breakfast

Two Top Ruritan will hold a pork sale and breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the club, five miles south of Mercersburg, Pa., on Pa. 75 at Two Top Road.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast includes pancakes or buckwheat cakes, puddin', sausage, orange juice and coffee.

The cost is $5, adults; $2.50, ages 6 to 12; and free for ages 5 and younger.

Fresh pork will be sold at 7 a.m., or order ahead by calling 1-717-328-5703.

Caring Voices of Washington County

Caring Voices of Washington County will meet from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Park Road Bible Church, 750 Park Road, Hagerstown. The group is for people who have had their lives changed due to pain.

The meeting will feature Dr. Ghazala Qadir of Boonsboro Family Practice, who also is a pain team consultant at Western Maryland Hospital Center.
