Golf event benefits CASA

January 12, 2006

The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce recently presented CASA of Washington County with a check for $2,000, proceeds from its fall Women's Golf Challenge.

CASA will use the money to provide physical and emotional safety, and foster growth for people involved in domestic violence or sexual assault.

This year's tournament drew 120 players, its largest turnout to date.

In the tournament's six-year history, the chamber has donated more than $8,000 to member agencies and nonprofits that focus on the needs of women and help build stronger families, Chamber President Brien Poffenberger said.
