Frederick Co. students compete in skills contest

FREDERICK, Md. - Representatives from 53 local businesses judged 240 students competing in Frederick County Public Schools' Career and Technology Center in the recent countywide Skills USA contests ranging from welding to Web design.

Placing first were:

  • Sarah Bloom - visual marketing and display

  • Dan Bock - sheet metal

  • Mike Bowers - technical drafting

  • Andrew Brown - architectural drafting

  • Sarah Caywood - cosmetology

  • Jeff Christ - Web design

  • Fernando Cisneros - graphic communications

  • Philip Cunningham and Michael Nannetti - television video production

  • Garrett Dailey - criminal justice

  • Harley Divelbliss - autobody collision repair

  • Corey Fogle - commercial baking

  • Rachel Froitzheim - residential electrical wiring

  • Bethany Gregory - advertising design

  • David Katz - computer maintenance technology

  • Alex Keipper and Josh Plaza - radio production

  • Steven Pfeiffer - welding

  • Joshua Roman - electronic technology

  • Daniela Solis - medical assisting

  • Hannah Sowers - nursing assistant

  • Quinn Stemple - cake decorating

  • Sam Steward - CISCO Internetworking

  • Charlotte Thompson - landscaping

Last year, 20 technology center students placed in the top 10 at National SkillsUSA competitions.
