Road work projects will cause detours in Frederick this week

FREDERICK, Md. -

The following road maintenance work was announced Friday in a press release from the City of Frederick:

· Construction on Walter Martz Road, which began in November and was to conclude by Jan. 1, will continue for at least another week, according to a press release from the City of Frederick.

Day Development Company L.C., working on the road from Christopher's Crossing at Poole Jones Road to Walter Martz Road at Whittenburg Court, told the city it expects to resurface the road and complete the project by Jan. 13.

· West Patrick Street between Court and Bentz streets also will be closed in the evenings next week while Hess Construction Co., a contractor for the city working on the construction of Parking Deck No. 4, completes the installation of precast panels on the north side of the deck.

The road will be closed Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., but will be reopened from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Motorists will be detoured right onto Court Street, left onto Second Street, left onto Bentz Street and then onto West Patrick Street.

· The city's water department will be excavating and replacing a fire hydrant and lateral at the intersection of West Patrick and South Bentz streets on Monday.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the intersection, but still will be able to turn right or proceed straight through the intersection.
