Hagerstown police say liquor store robbed

HAGERSTOWN - A man who claimed to have a weapon assaulted a liquor store clerk and stole money Wednesday evening, Hagerstown Police said.

The robbery happened at about 7:35 p.m. at Potomac Liquors on South Potomac Street, police said.

A man entered the store and assaulted the clerk. During the assault, the man claimed to have a weapon and demanded money, police said.

The man fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money, running east on Lee Street, police said.

Police said the clerk, whom they did not identify, was not hurt.

The robber was described as a white man about 50 years old with salt-and-pepper hair, 6 feet tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing a black coat, a black hat, blue pants and glasses.
