Bob Maginnis, editorial page editor of The Herald-Mail Co., was involved Tuesday in a car crash in Hagerstown.

Hagerstown Police said Maginnis drove into the path of another vehicle along Antietam Street just after 5 p.m.

Maginnis was driving in an alley alongside Washington County District Court. Police said traffic traveling west on Antietam Street had stopped and was backed up. Traffic going east was still moving, and police said they believe Maginnis did not notice that some traffic was moving.

Maginnis, who was driving a van, attempted to drive across Antietam Street into another alley, but drove into the path of a passenger car, police said.

Maginnis' vehicle was struck, spun several times and hit a building along Antietam Street, police said.

Maginnis was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital, where he was treated and released by 10:50 p.m., according to a nursing supervisor there.
