Back in school

Our students are back in school today; please drive carefully.

Enjoying the season

Another year is gone, and this one is fresh! We spent the last week enjoying the season. For the first time, my biological mom spent Christmas with us. It was wonderful to have that time together. On Dec. 26, friends stopped by for a dessert party at our house. We took her to the airport on Dec. 28 to fly home.

New Year's quiet

New Year's Eve was fairly boring around here. We stayed home and watched TV, tried out the RC car in the drained hot tub and built a fire on the patio. A few fireworks could be heard in the distance.

Soccer sign-ups

The Hagerstown Area Youth Soccer League is having registration for the spring soccer season. Players 4 to 18 years old are eligible to play. All new players must bring a birth certificate. Scholarships are available. For more information, go to their Web site at www.HAYSL.net or call 240-52-SCORE. The cost for the season is $45 per player. HAYSL is an American Youth Soccer Organization League. All registered children play.

Sock hop planned

A Sock Hop Saturday Night Cruisers Dance is planned for Feb. 4 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 54 S. Potomac St. in Hagerstown. Please contact Ken Welch at 301-733-9156. Admission is $9 per person.

This event is open to the public. One does not need to be a member of the Masonic Temple to attend.

The Masonic Temple is a non-smoking, non-alcohol environment.

Recycling program

The South Hagerstown High Band Program is collecting aluminum cans.

The cans may be dropped off at the South High Recycling Center trailer in the South Potomac Street parking lot, every Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon.

It benefits the South Hagerstown High Band Program and our environment!

Indoor soccerseason under way

My son Jesse began soccer practice for indoor soccer at the Hagerstown YMCA last night.

We are excited about watching another fun season!
