UNION BRIDGE, Md. -

Maryland State Police are investigating a two-car accident that killed two people on Md. 75, near Union Bridge on Friday.

Lauren DeLodovico, 20, of Libertytown, Md., was pronounced dead at the scene after a Ford Escort struck her Honda Civic, which was traveling south, police said.

The Escort's front-seat passenger, Emily Pugh, 17, of Frederick, Md., was flown to Washington County Hospital after state troopers extricated her from the vehicle.

State police said she died at the hospital from injuries she sustained in the 8 p.m. accident.

Troopers closed Md. 75 for about six hours after the accident occurred. Investigators said the Escort, which was carrying three passengers, swerved from the northbound lane and struck DeLodovico's car, which was traveling south.

The Escort's driver, Aaron Zufall, 19, of Frederick, and backseat passenger, Thomas Mullinax, 20, of Westminster, Md., suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital, state police said.
