St. John's Episcopal Church, Hagerstown, the Rev. Joseph Rickards will preach at the 10 a.m. communion service this Sunday.

Christian education will resume on Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.

Asbury United Methodist Church, Shepherdstown, W.Va., there will be watch night services tonight at 10.

On Sunday, there will be an 11 a.m. service.

St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Smithsburg, the Rev. Mark Mooney will be speaking at 9:30 a.m. this Sunday on the topic, Child of God. Mooney and Joseph the puppet will also be featured at the service. The Wesley Covenant Communion Service will be observed.

Sunday School classes for children, youth and adults are at 10:45 a.m.

St. Catherine Eastern Orthodox Church of Hagerstown, Vespers are at 6:30 this evening.

Father Dennis Buck will be serving Divine Liturgy this Sunday celebrating the circumcision of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and celebrating St. Basil the Great at 10 a.m. Church School is held afterward for the children. The annual Lenten soup and bread fundraiser will be held following Liturgy.


On Thursday at 10 a.m., Eve of Theophany Divine Liturgy followed by vespers and blessings of water. On Friday at 10 a.m., Holy Theophany Divine Liturgy and the blessings of water.

Christ Reformed UCC in Cavetown, the Rev. Carol Hallman will speak at the 10:30 a.m. communion service this Sunday on the topic, Child of Hope.

There will be no Sunday school.

Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center, 17544 York Road, Hagerstown, the Rev. Robert C. Jones will speak on the topic, The Important Left-Overs at the 6 p.m. New Year's Eve service. He will speak on the topic Spiritual Mountain Tops at the 10 a.m. service this Sunday.

There will be an evening service Sunday at 6. Sunday school is at 9 a.m.

Calvary United Methodist Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Al Clipp will speak on the topic, Testifying to a New Day, at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. communion services this Sunday is The Lord's House.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Unity, Shepherdstown, W.Va., this Sunday at 11 a.m., the congregation will observe the burning bowl ritual to start off the new year.

Unity meets in Shepherdstown's historic train station between German and High streets.

Zion United Church of Christ, the Rev. Robert Royal will speak at the 11 a.m. service this Sunday. The topic will be The Sin of Aiming Too Low.

There will be no Sunday school.

Calvary Grace Brethren Church, New Year's Day celebration will be held at 11 a.m. this Sunday.

Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. There will be no evening service.

Pikeside United Methodist Church, Paynes Ford Road and U.S. 11, Martinsburg, W.Va., the Rev. Thomas Young Jr. will bring the message, Before We Get Too Far Into the New Year, at the 8:30 and 10:35 a.m. communion services this Sunday.

Sunday School for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. There will be no Sunday evening services.

Church of the Holy Trinity, Halfway, the Rev. Ted Haas will be conducting the 10:45 a.m. service this Sunday on the topic, What Made the Wise Men Wise - And How We Can Learn From Them. Children's church meets during the service. Fellowship and light refreshments follow the service.

Sunday school for all ages is at 9:30 a.m.

St. Mark's Lutheran Church, the Rev. David Kaplan will be preaching this Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. communion service on the topic, We Begin In the Name.

Tri-State Fellowship, 13153 Cearfoss Pike, Hagerstown, Pastor Randy Buchman will be speaking on the topic, The Gift of Time at the 11 a.m. service this Sunday.

Childcare will be available for walking toddlers; however there will be no children's classes.

Church of Christ in the Great Valley, Minister C.R. Strunk will be speaking this Sunday at 10 a.m. on the topic, Building Spiritual Foundations.

Wednesday night services begin at 7.
