Smithsburg Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, New Year's Eve service will be held at 6 p.m. Jim Hoffer will speak on the topic, Beginning a New Year with Christ. An agape meal will be served, followed by the communion service.

Camp Joy El, Greencastle, Pa., The annual pork and sauerkraut dinner hosted at Camp Joy El for area seniors will begin today at 1:30 p.m.

Anyone 55 or older is invited to the free meal. Those who attend are asked to bring a dessert to share.

Entertaining this year will be the Rev. Neville West, who will create a speed painting to music. West has done paintings depicting 9/11 and one of his paintings currently hangs in the west wing of the White House.

Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville, Md., a youth rally sponsored by the youth ministry of the church will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, from 3 to 9 p.m.

There will be special guest speakers, praise bands, dramas, skits, music, food and lots of fun.

National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, 333 S. Seton Ave., Emmitsburg, Md., Epiphany Sunday and the Feast Day Celebration of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton will be held Sunday, Jan. 8, in the basilica with a 1:30 p.m. Mass.
