WILLIAMSPORT - Beall's Kaitlin Greig and Kierstin Stevenson each scored 12 points and the Mountaineers' defense held Williamsport to single digits in every quarter Wednesday as Beall beat the Wildcats 39-29 for its fifth straight Richard E. Doub Classic girls basketball title.

"It feels great to win another championship," said Beall coach Tim Nightingale. "The girls aren't a team of stars but we set our goals. One of the goals was to keep this streak alive and it's great to see the girls accomplish that."

Williamsport took an 8-5 lead in the first quarter, but the Wildcats did not score another point in the period as Beall closed out the quarter on a 9-0 run - fueled by seven points by Greig - to take the lead for good.

The Mountaineers, who led 20-16 at halftime and 26-21 going into the fourth quarter, forced several costly turnovers late in the game to secure a victory.

"We definitely did a nice job on defense even when I didn't think we would match up," said Nightingale. "It's a tribute to the team's hard work."

Stevenson grabbed six rebounds and Samantha Cunningham had five for Beall (7-2).

Morgan Smith had a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds for Williamsport (2-4).

In the consolation game, Greencastle defeated Broadfording Christian Academy, 56-34.

Jade Dunhour scored 10 points to lead the Blue Devils (4-5). Tina Conner had a game-high 13 points for the Lions (5-6).

Beall's Greig, Stevenson and Tasha Wilhelm, Williamsport's Smith and Greencastle's Dunhour were named to the all-tournament team.
