Repairs being made on South Potomac Street

December 28, 2005

Work crews from Columbia Gas and Huntzberry Brothers Inc. are installing and making permanent pavement repairs in the first block of South Potomac Street.

The utility and roadwork - which is connected to a Bowman Development Corp. project - will limit traffic to one lane from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today through Friday, according to the City of Hagerstown.

Starting Jan. 3, the alley at the rear of the block between East Washington and East Antietam streets will be closed to traffic so Huntzberry Brothers can install a storm drain for the new parking deck. The storm drain work will take about two months, the city said.

The city said the winter weather has slowed progress on the deck, which is expected to open in June 2006.
