SHARPSBURG - Police were searching for a man Tuesday night they say robbed Sharpsburg Pharmacy at gunpoint earlier in the day.
The man pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded OxyContin from pharmacy employees, according to Maryland State Police. After employees at the pharmacy, at 17316 Shepherdstown Pike, gave the man the drug, he fled on foot about 6 p.m., police said.
After leaving the pharmacy, the man tried to get into a vehicle that had stopped nearby, police said. When the man pulled on the vehicle's door handle, the driver drove away and called police.
The man had not been found by 10:30 p.m.
He was described as white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds and a thin or medium build, police said. The man was wearing a camouflage coat, light-colored jogging pants with a white stripe, and his face was concealed, police said.
