Resolution solution - Get a partner

December 27, 2005|By NICK RITCHICK

With New Year's Day only a few days away, one must think "What will this year have to offer?" Well, I can't help you choose a resolution, but here are some tips on how to stick with it.

The hardest part of keeping a resolution is remembering to keep it, and for this situation I recommend having a resolution partner. Share your resolutions with one another and have a system worked out to check on one another.

Be it by e-mail or by telephone, keep on one another as a means of support.

Another way of keeping your resolution is by setting small goals and keeping track of them.

Resolutions don't have to be huge. You might resolve to keep a journal of your weeks or days or spending time with an old friend.

For larger resolutions, a way to keep motivated is by challenging a group of people. A few years back, my sister challenged our family members to see who could lose the most weight - and they certainly didn't let her forget. In fact, relatives would bring it up at every family party.
