Broadfording program supports Operation Christmas Child

December 27, 2005

The auditorium at Broadfording Christian Academy was full of parents, relatives and other visitors Dec. 6 when the preschool, kindergarten and elementary music classes performed "Operation Christmas Child" for their audience.

Fort Faithful was the setting where Cpl. Christie (Laikyn Cook), Sgt. Smarter (Nathan Smith), Private Eye (Kaitlyn Blankenship), Private Elvis Presby (Austin Miller), Private Gomer Smyler (Kyle Martin), Col. Sanders (Brandon Haupt) and Maj. Minor (Carly Hill) discovered that Christmas started with a present, and that present was a person: Jesus Christ.

After discovering the true origin of Christmas, the crew proclaimed it was blessed and therefore should look for ways to share those blessings with other people. The elementary music students sang "We're Blessed to Bless Again!"

The concert ended with a grand finale that showed the Army crew creating shoe boxes full of children's gifts for the Operation Christmas Child ministry, a real-life organization adopted by Franklin Graham, international president of Samaritan's Purse. Operation Christmas Child has delivered more than 38 million shoe boxes to hurting children in more than 100 countries over the last 15 years. The students at Broadfording Christian Academy donated 190 shoe boxes to the organization this year.
