Services at area houses of worship

Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Md. 67 and Locust Grove Road, Rohrersville, the Rev. Blaine Feightner will be preaching on the topic, Peace on Earth, at the 8:45 a.m. service on Christmas Day.

Christian education is at 10 a.m.

Pinesburg Baptist Church, 14706 Clear Spring Road, Williamsport, Pastor John Koontz will bring the message, No Room, at the 11 a.m. service on Christmas Day. Keith Clever will bring special music.

Sharpsburg Church of the Brethren, Pastor Homer Nutting will speak on The Promise Fulfilled at the 10:30 a.m. service on Christmas Day. The Gustafson family will light the Advent candle. There is no Sunday school.

Zion Assembly of God, Maugansville, on Christmas Day, there will be a 10 a.m. celebration service featuring carols, stories of the carols and a message by Pastor Joe Quesenberry.


A Russian Christmas service will be held at 2 p.m. on Christmas Day.

St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, the Rev. Wesley Scouten's sermon is entitled, Sharing the Joy, at the 9:30 a.m. Christmas Day service.

There will be no Sunday school.

St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Clear Spring, the 10:30 a.m. Christmas Day service of the word and sacrament will feature the topic, Happy Birthday, Jesus.

Salem Ridge Mennonite Church, Greencastle, Pa., the message, The Gift Goes On, will be the message at the 9:30 a.m. service this Christmas Day. There will be no Sunday school.

Otterbein United Methodist Church, the chancel choir cantata, Celebrating the Season, will be performed at 11 a.m. on Christmas Day and broadcast live on radio station WJEJ.

There is Sunday school or early service.

Paramount Brethren in Christ Church, there will be a time of fellowship at 9:30 a.m. in the social hall on Christmas Day.

Pastor Jim Stauffer will bring the message, Happy Birthday, at the combined 10 a.m. service. There is no Sunday school or midweek ministries.

Blair's Valley First Church of God, Clear Spring, Pastor Robert Stone will be speaking at 9:30 a.m. on Christmas Day on the topic, Fear Not.

Benevola United Methodist Church, Boonsboro, the combined 9 a.m. worship will feature Pastor Helen Steiner Smith speaking on Amid the Ordinary, The Unexpected. The A Capella ensemble will bring music.

There will be no Sunday school.

Hagerstown Christ's Reformed Church, the Rev. Rebecca Hoover will be leading the special 10 a.m. Christmas carol sing on Christmas Day. The Rev. Don R. Stevenson will be liturgist and Hoover will give the children's message.

There will be no church school.

Manor Church of the Brethren, Pastor Joy Zepp will preach on the topic, Into the Light, at the 10 a.m. service of carols and special music on Christmas Day.

Hazel Long is worship leader. The puppets will perform. Brittany Heller, Brooke Krocker on alto saxophone and Matt Bailey on drums will bring special music.

Broadfording Church of the Brethren Fellowship, Pastor Len Smith will speak at the 10:30 a.m. service on Christmas Day on the topic, Jesus Came When ... Janet Burger is worship leader.

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

Wednesday evening ministries will not meet.

St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Pastor Mike Henning will speak on the topic, God's Word Became Flesh, at the 8:30 and 10:45 a.m. services on Christmas Day.

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m.

Ringgold Church of Christ, Don Conley, senior minister, will speak on the topic, It's A Wonderful Life - What If Jesus Had Never Been Born, this Sunday at the 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. services.

Sunday school is at 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Wednesday night activities for all ages are 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Mount Zion Mennonite Church, Boonsboro, the 10 a.m. service on Christmas Day will feature the theme of a Christmas Celebration.

There is no children's church or church school.

Maranatha Brethren Church, Pastor Jay Fretz will bring the Christmas Day message, The Gift of God, at the 10 a.m. service. The choir will present the cantata, Name Above All Names.

Wednesday night adult Bible study begins at 7. There will be no youth activities.

Christian Science Society, the topic this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. will be Christian Science.

Sunday school for young people up to age 20 meets at 10:30 a.m. during worship.

Meetings are held on the first and third Wednesdays at 8 p.m. The Reading Room at 235 N. Potomac St. is open one hour before and after services.

The Church of the Apostles (UCC), Waynesboro, Pa., the 10:45 a.m. service on Christmas Day will feature the Christmas story in carols and scriptures. There will be no Sunday school.

Washington Square United Methodist Church, Pastor Owen Womack will speak at the 10:45 a.m. Christmas Day service on the topic, The Word Made Flesh. Cheryl Rhodes will present a solo.

There is no Sunday school.

Hebron Mennonite Church, Paramount, Pastor Harold Shenk will be preaching this Sunday at the 10 a.m. service. The topic is God's Unimaginable Surprise in the Advent series, God's Unstoppable Purpose.
