RESTON, Va. - Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association's scholarship application for the 2006-07 academic year is now available.
"It is Maryland & Virginia's privilege to award scholarship money to deserving students who will lead our industry into the future," said General Manager Jay Bryant.
The milk cooperative presents five $1,000 scholarships for the upcoming academic year based on each applicant's academic achievement, extracurricular activities, financial need and future plans.
Last year, the cooperative awarded an additional $5,000 to students, thanks to donations from members, industry partners and others.
To qualify, applicants must work on the farm of a Maryland & Virginia member, be enrolled in an accredited two- or four-year college, university or trade school, and be pursuing a career in the dairy industry.
