Al-Anon/Alateen family groups



Hagerstown and Frederick, Md., area. This is an anonymous, confidential support group for anyone affected by a family member or friend's drinking. There are no fees. Call 1-301-663-6626 for a list of meetings in the area.




Bereavement support



A new support group for spouses, led by Eloise Plank, a licensed, certified social worker with years of experience in grief counseling, meets Tuesdays at 5 p.m., and is accepting new members. Also, an ongoing support group for parents who have lost a child of any age meets Mondays at 4 p.m. and is accepting new members. This group is led by Mary Hedges, licensed, clinical social worker. Alcoholics anonymous

an-to-Man Prostate Cancer Support Group

Stroke survivors

The group, sponsored by Total Rehab Care of Washington County and American Heart Association, meets the fourth Thursday of each month, and provides education and emotional support for stroke survivors and their families.
