Pedestrian hit, killed on W.Va. 9

December 18, 2005

A Martinsburg man walking along W.Va. 9 near the intersection with Exit 16 of Interstate 81 was struck and killed by a car early Saturday, West Virginia State Police in Martinsburg said.

Sgt. David Boober identified the man who was killed as Thomas Bish, 65.

Boober said he didn't know an exact address for Bish, but said he lived in the Martinsburg area.

Aimee Dugger, 24, was driving the Mitsubishi Eclipse sedan that struck the pedestrian shortly before 1:30 a.m., Boober said.

Dugger was taken to City Hospital. A hospital spokeswoman said Saturday night that Dugger was admitted to the emergency room, was discharged and went home.

A passenger in the Eclipse was not injured, Sgt. S.E. Davis said.

The accident was under investigation, Davis said.
