Living Créche


The créche will feature live animals and a soundtrack of scripture and carols at each tableau. Animals include sheep, donkeys and alpacas. Kathy Mattea


FREDERICK, Md. - Kathy Mattea will present "Songs and the Season." 8 p.m. Saturday. Weinberg Center for the Arts, 20 W. Patrick St., Frederick, Md. Tickets cost $39 to $47.

Belle Boyd House

Festival of Lights


Luminarias will light Rest Haven Cemetery. Bagpiper Richard Conrad will walk through the cemetery, performing Christmas hymns, as people light luminarias. Drivers are asked to enter at the south gate, by the pond, and exit through the north gate. The event will start at 3 p.m. Saturday with a performance by St. James Brass Quintet in the funeral home chapel. Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. Free.

Music of the season


The Haven Lutheran Church Choir and the Appalachian Wind Quintet will perform music of the season. 5 p.m. Saturday. Haven Lutheran Church, 1035 Haven Road, Hagerstown. Light refreshments will be served afterward.

The Frederick Orchestra


The Frederick Orchestra will perform season favorites. The program includes Corelli's "Christmas Concerto Grosso"; Respighi's "Ancient Airs and Dances," Suite 1; Holcombe's "Festive Sounds of Hanukah"; Anderson's "A Christmas Festival." 3 p.m. Saturday. Frederick Community College, Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md. Admission is $15, adults; $8, students and senior citizens. Purchase tickets at the box office the evening of the performance.

'First Snow of Winter'

Maryland Symphony Orchestra

Maryland Symphony Orchestra will present two concerts. "Glorious Holiday Spirits" will feature Vivaldi's "Gloria" as well as holiday favorites at 7 p.m. Saturday. "Santa Symphony," a one-hour concert of holiday favorites designed with children in mind, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Maryland Theatre, 21 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. Discovery Station

Robert Peters, "The Reptile Man," will present a Sunday Extra program. Peters will present facts about his collection of nontropical reptiles, and provide hands-on experience. 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Sunday. Railroad club open house
