N.Y. man charged with drug offenses

A New York man was charged with several drug offenses Wednesday in Hagerstown.

Jeffrey Norris Rose, 21, of 396 Linden Blvd. in Brooklyn, N.Y., was charged with conspiracy to distribute drugs, possession of drugs with the intent to distribute, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Washington County District Court charging documents.

An undercover police officer, fitted with an electronic transmitter to record his conversations, arranged to purchase crack cocaine from Rose, documents allege.

After the undercover officer made a $100 purchase, officers went to arrest Rose, who fled on foot, documents allege.

Officers arrested Rose in the 900 block of West Franklin Street in Hagerstown.

Rose was released on bail Thursday night from the Washington County Detention Center, according to a spokesman there.

Man faces forgery, uttering charges

A Hagerstown man charged with stealing and cashing his mother's checks requested Thursday in Washington County District Court that his case be postponed so he could obtain counsel, documents state.


Elmer Paul Line Jr., 24, of 17015 Oakleigh Way, was charged in September with four counts each of forgery, uttering false documents and theft, court documents state.

Line in early August allegedly cashed four checks -totaling $275 - by forging his mother's signature, documents state.
