Bridge club posts results

Twenty-two pairs competed Wednesday, Dec. 7, during a meeting of the Hagerstown Duplicate Bridge Club in a sectional tournament at clubs in Hagerstown. The following results are those obtained at the club; however, they will be matched against pairs from West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Consequently, they might place even higher than shown at the Club level.

In the North/South direction, Rick Elbo and Chuck Lesher finished first in the A stratum, while Margaret Peirce and Lois Taylor were second. Third in A were Rich Evans and Carl Herrick. Ron Gold and Ann Lebherz placed fourth in A and first in B, and Aurora and Bruce McDonough were second in B.

In the East/West direction, Denise Clow and Barbara Ward were first in A, and Rob Dickinson and Ralph Maier were second in A and first in B. Jim Eaton and Tom Janus came in third in A, and Elaine Rowe and Fred Wagner were fourth in A. Barbara Burkhardt and Jean Hollyday placed second in B, and Jack and Patsy Mesner were third in B.

Prior to the game, Unit 168 (which includes people from Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia) recognized two Hagerstown players for accomplishments this past year. Jean Hollyday made Life Master, and Mary Wolfinger attained the level of Silver Life Master.
