Plumb Grove to host Christmas event

CLEAR SPRING - Part of Christmas in Clear Spring is the 10th annual open house at Plumb Grove on Saturday from 2 p.m. to midnight.

Admission to the candlelit event is $5 for nonmembers of the Clear Spring District Historical Association. There will be music, fellowship and refreshments in the 19th-century style.

Other events Saturday will include Clear Spring Garden Club church and house tours, a train display at Clear Spring Town Hall and holiday stamp cancellations at the first post office building (now headquarters for the Clear Spring District Historical Association) from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Clear Spring Lions Club will host a chicken and waffle supper Saturday at St. John's United Church of Christ from 4 to 7 p.m.


Santa plans annual visit to library

Santa will be making his yearly visit to the Washington County Free Library in Hagerstown on Thursday, Dec. 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

There will be a holiday craft for children to take home and make, and the library's regular "Family Story Time" will be at 7 p.m. in the Children's Department.

Nurse to present medication program

Ita Kavanaugh, R.N., will present "Individual Medication Reviews" on Monday, Dec. 12, at 10 a.m., at the Southeastern Senior Site in Keedysville.

Helen House will present "Depression and Heart Health" and Exercise on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m.

House will present "Are Your Medicines Causing Your Memory Loss?" and Exercise on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m.

The Christmas party will be Monday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m.

Regularly scheduled activities at the center during December are:

  • Bean Bag Toss: Thursdays and Fridays, 10:15 a.m

  • Bingo: Wednesdays, 10:15 a.m.

  • Cards: Mondays, 1 p.m.

  • Coffee, Conversation and Newspaper: Daily, 9 a.m.

  • Darts or Uno: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:15 a.m.

  • Horseshoes: Friday, 10:15 a.m.

  • Ring Toss: Thursdays, 10:15 a.m.

  • Table Bowling: Thursdays, 10:15 a.m.

The Southeastern Senior Site for senior activities is at the Little Antietam Community Center, 40 Mt. Vernon Drive.

Town museum plans Christmas program

WILLIAMSPORT - The Town Museum on Springfield Lane will be open Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. for its annual Christmas program.

Beginning at 2 p.m., Randy Anderson will present "The Railroad meets the Canal at Williamsport."

On display will be a Lionel Standard Gauge metal train set from the late 1930s.

Mary H. Rubin's "Images of America - Williamsport" will be on sale for $20 and signed by the author.

Refreshments will be served.
