Whitetail to open Friday

December 08, 2005

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - After nine days of snowmaking, Whitetail Mountain Resort will be opening its slopes to skiers and snowboarders Friday, resort officials said Wednesday in a news release.

General Manager Don MacAskill declared this season to have "one of the best openings in years" with a significant amount of snow and excellent conditions.

"We are going to open with seven of our 19 trails available and four of the six lifts, including the Whitetail Express Quad," said Chris Black, marketing director.

Mother Nature has been giving Whitetail a helping hand, providing consistent cold temperatures that will allow the resort to continue to produce more snow every night for the next week. As the snowmakers continue to pound the trails with snow, more open trails will follow, Black said.

With the favorable weather forecast, Whitetail anticipates having Whitetail Adventure Snow Tubing open within the next week.

"We encourage everyone to check the Web site (www.skiwhitetail.com) for updates on snow and trail conditions, as well as to find out what we will be opening next," Black said.
