MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Three years ago when The Apollo Civic Theatre presented the musical "Two From Galilee," it sold out its last two performances, says Catherine Fronck, musical director.

Many of the cast members have returned for this year's production.

"Two From Galilee" tells the love story between Mary and Joseph and how they fought the Jewish tradition of arranged marriage to be together, Fronck says. The musical includes Joseph's struggle to accept God's plan for Mary to give birth to the Messiah.

While the roughly two-hour musical ends after the birth of Jesus, it includes an earlier than usual visit from the wise men, Fronck says.

Based on a novelization of the love story by Marjorie Holmes, the musical features contemporary Christian music and dancing and a traditional Hebrew dance, Fronck says. A song has been added since the original performance at the Apollo.

Fronck says the story is appropriate for all ages.

"It is a Christian story. It is a Christmas story. But I think anybody would enjoy it because the music is absolutely gorgeous," she says.
