Honor Society inducts members

BOONSBORO - The annual candlelight National Honor Society induction ceremony added 38 members to the group.

Officers are Peter Frey, president; Alyssa Lum, vice president; Rachel Solomos, secretary; Charlie Crosby, treasurer; and Ashley DeLuca, historian.

Members entering their second year are Griffin Abernathy, Allen Beard, Erin Gantz, Laura Gardiner, Meagan Gaulding, Kasi Harris, Erik Hoffman, Susan Hornsby, Evan Lowery, Laura Michael, Ashley Mose, Brian Poole and Brittany Stranathan.

New members are Kathryn Barger, Michelle Birky, Kristen Brennan, Rachel Buffington, Amanda Bundick, Victoria Burch, Kayla Drake, Hayley Harnett, Aaron Hauber, Christopher Heim, Turner Hirsh, April Hoffman, Caitlin Humphrey, Maura James, Kyle Kane, Alexandra Kirk, Sarah Kornides and Amy Landsman.

Also, Courtney Long, Danielle Mantz, Jessica Mathews, Courtney Monninger, Ira Redman, Emily Reeves, Renee Ryberg, Renata Schmersal, Whitney Sheppard, Jessica Shives, Amanda Smith, Samantha Spencer, Anne Stablein, Adam Stephens, Daniel Stitely, Lori Strunk, Adam Taylor, Megan Thompson, John Watkins and Lauren Wood.

Members must perform 40 hours of community service each year. This year they did or will help plant trees along Beaver Creek in Antietam Watershed, wrap presents at Valley Mall to help the American Red Cross, make and set up the luminarias at Antietam National Battlefield, help with Christmas in the Park in Boonsboro and be Christmas elves at Boonsoro Elementary School.

Erik Hoffman is helping with a canned food drive at Boonsboro Elementary School and Brittany Stranathan chairs a committee to launch a card drive for an ill student.

Members must maintain a grade-point average of 3.5 or above.
