Bereavement support

A new support group for spouses, led by Eloise Plank, a licensed, certified social worker with years of experience in grief counseling, is accepting new members. Also, an ongoing support group for parents who have lost a child of any age meets Mondays at 4 p.m. and is accepting new members. This group is led by Mary Hedges, licensed, clinical social worker. Al-Anon/Alateen family groups

Hagerstown and Frederick, Md., area. This is an anonymous, confidential support group for anyone affected by a family member's or friend's drinking. There are no fees. Call 1-301-663-6626 for a list of meetings in the area.

Alcoholics anonymous

RANSON, W.Va. - Friday, Dec. 9, 8 to 9 p.m., first-floor conference room of Jefferson Memorial Hospital. MOMS Club - Hagerstown, north chapter

Tuesday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m., ARCC building, room 225 at Hagers-town Community College, Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown. This chapter of the national nonprofit support group is for all mothers who stay home with their children. The club has just started the MOMS Club - Hagerstown, South chapter and now is open to mothers in the Hagerstown, Smithsburg and Boonsboro area. Activities include speakers, play groups, daily activities for mothers and children, and community service projects. Mothers may bring their children to all MOMS club activities. Somerford Place -Memory Care Assisted Living Group

National Alliance for the Mentally Ill

Tuesday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m., Trinity Lutheran Church, corner of North Potomac Street and Randolph Avenue, Hagerstown. The group meets on the first Tuesday of each month to educate and inform residents of Washington County about mental illness and to support and advocate for individuals with mental illness and their families and caregivers.
