Frederick County Health Department



FREDERICK, Md. - Angela Blair has been appointed community health educator at the Frederick County Health Department, where she will function as both health educator and public information officer.

Her duties will entail assessing the health needs of the community, developing corresponding programs and promoting services. She will collaborate with other public health professionals to facilitate community partnerships designed to promote more efficient and effective use of resources.

She also will serve as a resource and spokesperson to the public and the media. She began her tenure on Nov. 9.

City Hospital



MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Edythe A. McGoff, emergency department manager at City Hospital, recently was inducted into the Academy of Emergency Nursing.

The academy was established in 2004 to honor emergency nurses who demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in their field.

McGoff was one of 41 nurses selected to join the Academy's first class of inductees. She was chosen for having made enduring and substantial contributions to the profession over her 36-year career in emergency nursing, according to a prepared release.

As a member of the Academy of Emergency Nursing, McGoff is designated "Fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing" and entitled to use the initials "FAEN" after her name.

McGoff has served as the nurse manager of City Hospital's emergency department since October 2000.

The Bodyworks Massage Center owners Jan Borell, CMT, and Mary Nye, CMT, and assistant manager Lana Spence, attended the 20th annual Natural Products Expo East in Washington, D.C.

At the expo, more than 300 exhibitors from around the world displayed their products for natural and organic retailers.

Lara Tagg has been promoted to a full-time sales associate in the Display Advertising Department of The Herald-Mail Co. A graduate of North Hagerstown High School, she's served the company in a part-time capacity since June, working in the Finance and Administration Department.

On the part-time front, Tyler Kahl has joined the Sports Department as a stringer. A graduate of North Hagerstown High School and Dickinson College, he previously worked for Hecht's and the Northwood Tennis Club.

Celebrating milestone anniversaries with the company in December are: Linda Curry, Packaging and Distribution, 5 years; and John Smith, Maintenance, 5 years.

Diane Rowe Caprio



Joyce Lee, a tax professional at Diane Rowe Caprio Accounting, Payroll and Tax Services of Hagerstown attended the 31st annual Federal and State Tax Institutes seminar in Frederick, Md.

The seminar focused on federal and state updates for the 2006 tax season.

Washington County Commission on Aging



Katrina Eversole was honored by the Washington County Commission on Aging Inc. as its Employee of the Year during the agency's second annual employee recognition ceremony on Nov. 16. Eversole is the senior health insurance advocate for the Commission on Aging and a 21-year employee of the agency.

Employees recognized for milestone years of service were Emma Reger, 30 years; Thomas Day, 20 years; Linda Crone, 15 years; Len Mosby and Liz Church, five years.

Frick FederalCredit Union



WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Angela Knepper has joined the team of Frick Federal Credit Union as the head teller and Visa coordinator.

She will be involved in assisting customers with their Visa credit cards and debit card needs and helping at the teller windows, among other jobs.

She is a graduate of Hagerstown Business College and has previous banking experience.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA has recognized two of its top sales professionals, Bob Snurr and Dawn Kriner, for their performance in October.

The office also welcomed two new sales professionals, R.P. "Sam" Schneider and Stephanie Smith Kober.

Schneider has been a licensed Realtor for 12 years and is a graduate of the Institute of Real Estate Studies. He is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania.

Kober, a graduate of York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in elementary education, is licensed to list and sell all types of real estate in Pennsylvania.

O'Neill Physical Therapy Services



Jennifer Robertson, P.T.A., Leigh Martin, P.T.A., and Brenda DeSutter-Gue, P.T., of O'Neill Physical Therapy Services in Hagerstown, recently attended a seminar on stress, depression and pain. The focus of the seminar was on how stress, depression and pain affect the overall health and well-being of an individual.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Roy Long, who operates a Kirby distributorship in Martinsburg, recently was recognized by Kirby World Headquarters for reaching business goals.

The recognition was part of the Challenge of Champions Born to Win Campaign, a yearlong promotion through which distributors can win prizes and trips.

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Scott Palmer and Johnny Greathead with Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA were recognized as Agents of the Month for October in the Greencastle office. The award is given based on the number of listings taken, sales made and attendance at Realtor functions and continuing education classes completed.

Palmer was recognized in the three years and over business category. Greathead was recognized in the three years and under business category. He also was recognized as October's leader in service, an award based on the agent's use of companies affiliated with Jack Gaughen ERA.
