Robert J. Bunnell Sr., 66

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Robert J. Bunnell Sr., 66, of Martinsburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at his home.

Born Feb. 22, 1939, in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of the late Lewis and Eleanor Meeker Bunnell.

He was a member of Martinsburg Moose Lodge 120.

He is survived by children, Robert J. Bunnell, Louis Bunnell, Matthew Bunnell, Patricia Bunnell, Christine Bunnell and JoAnn Barnes; three sisters, Marjorie, Millie and Mary; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Todd Bunnell.

Services and burial will be private.

Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Home, Martinsburg.

Thomas F. Clark Sr., 60

AUG. 29, 1945-DEC. 1, 2005

BURKITTSVILLE, Md. - Thomas Franklin Clark Sr., 60, of Burkittsville, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home.


Born Aug. 29, 1945, in Frederick, Md., he was the son of Mary Ida Clark Hengst of Brunswick, Md., and the late William Earl Clark.

He was a member of the American Legion of Brunswick; Old Bay Outboard Motor Club; and Outboard Motor Club of America.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mary Miller Clark; one daughter, Gayle Duffy of Hagerstown; one son, Thomas F. Clark Jr. of Ridgeley, W.Va.; two sisters, Earlene M. Hart of Frederick, and Brenda L. Boone of Taneytown, Md.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. The Rev. Kimberly Nunberg will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Burkittsville.

The family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Benjamin M. Burke, 88

NOV. 18, 1917-DEC. 2, 2005

Benjamin Metcalf Burke, 88, of Avalon Manor Nursing Home in Hagerstown, and formerly of St. Paul Road in Clear Spring, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Avalon Manor.

Born Nov. 18, 1917, in Clear Spring, he was the son of the late Samuel H. Burke and Clara Lucretia Metcalf Burke.

He was employed by Western Maryland Railway.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He received medals and honors.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clear Spring.

He was a member of Joseph C. Herbert American Legion Post 222 of Clear Spring.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma F. Miles Burke of Loyalton in Hagerstown; one daughter, JoAnn Ellis of Hagerstown; one son, Samuel E. Burke of Hagerstown; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five sisters, Mildred Cramer, Edith Snyder, Ethel Burke, Leola Whittington and Charlotte Strite; and one brother, Harold Burke.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clear Spring. The Rev. Hank Mansell will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, with military honors by Clear Spring American Legion.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald E. Thompson Funeral Home, Clear Spring.

Thelma I. Cogle, 83

SILVER GROVE, W.Va. - Thelma Isabelle Grove Cogle, 83, of Silver Grove, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at her home.

Born Oct. 22, 1922, in Silver Grove, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Grove and Annie Wilt Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Cogle, in 1999.

She was a member of Silver Grove United Methodist Church and Silver Grove Fellowship Group. She sang in the choir and was a Sunday school teacher.

She is survived by three daughters, Juanita M. Buzzard and Lucille Waters, both of Silver Grove, and Doris Stewart of Kearneysville, W.Va.; one son, Earl G. Cogle Sr. of Silver Grove; one sister, Beatrice Everhart of Silver Grove; nine grandchildren, including Kenneth R. Waters, whom she raised; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Longerbeam, Vanessa Everhart and Hilda Piper; and one brother, Floyd Grove.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Silver Grove United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donnie Jane Cardwell will officiate. Burial will be in Silver Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today and Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Eackles-Spencer Funeral Home, Harpers Ferry, W.Va.

Richard I. Holder, 82

KNOXVILLE, Md. - Richard Irven Holder, 82, of 909 Israel Creek Court in Knoxville, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at his home.

Born March 8, 1923, in Yarrowsburg, Md., he was the son of the late Floyd A. and Marie L. Deener Holder.
