December 02, 2005|by ERIN CUNNINGHAM

A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday night on U.S. 40 one mile east of Huyetts, according to Lt. Joe Goodrich with Maugansville Goodwill Volunteer Fire Co.

Two people were injured in the accident and taken to Washington County Hospital for treatment, said Goodrich, who described their injuries as "trauma injuries."

The accident happened about 8:30 p.m.

The name of the man killed was not available late Thursday.

A blue Ford Focus driven by Wayne Eugene Baker Sr. collided head-on with a silver Saturn driven by Justin Arthur Davis, said Cpl. W. Wachsmuth with Maryland State Police.

The man killed was a passenger in Davis' vehicle. He died at the scene, Goodrich said.

Firefighters had to free at least one person from a vehicle.

The crash left the Saturn mangled in the road. The Ford was about 50 feet away in a field.

U.S. 40 was closed for at least one mile late Thursday while firefighters and police officers worked at the accident scene.
