Free Christmas dinner

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherdstown Fire Department will hold its annual Christmas open house and free community Christmas dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. No reservations are needed to attend the dinner. Canned and/or nonperishable food for Jefferson County Ministerial Association food pantry will be collected.

The event's theme is "Holiday Safety." There will be free gifts for all children, fire safety literature, fire and ambulance displays, and more.

The special guest for the day will be Santa Claus. Pictures with Santa will be available for purchase, or bring your own camera.

Folk pottery catolog to be released

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Renfrew Museum and Park recently commissioned James M. Smith, executive director of the Nicodemus Center for Ceramic Studies at Penn State Mont Alto, to produce a full-color catalog of the museum's historic folk pottery collection in conjunction with the renovation of its pottery display.


The catalog is finished and will be available for sale beginning Friday, Dec. 2, at Renfrew's visitor center gift shop, 1010 E. Main St.

The catalog provides an historic narrative on Renfrew's pottery collection, based on primary and secondary sources.

A limited edition of 100 printed and bound catalogs will be on sale for $90 for members of Renfrew Museum and the Nicodemus Center, and $95 for the general public. A digital compact disc version of the catalog also will be available for $20 for members and nonmembers.
