ComputerizedInvesting course



Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education and the Western Maryland Regional Chapter of the National Association of Investors Corporation (NAIC) are co-sponsoring an introductory course for individual investors titled Computerized Investing and The Internet.

The course provides a solid understanding of the benefits that can be gained using investing software and the variety of financial resources available on the Internet, according to a prepared release.

This is not a day trading course. National Association of Investors Corporation principles of investing apply.

The class will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the HCC Valley Mall Center.

Notary Basics course offered on campus



Hagerstown Community College's Center for Continuing Education is offering an introductory course for commissioned notaries and those who want to be commissioned in Maryland.

The course will identify the importance and history of the notary, legal responsibilities and duties, purpose of the notary, record keeping, correct notary verbiage, avoiding conflict of interest and how to correctly use and protect the notary seal.

Students also will learn how to apply for notary commissions.

The six-hour course will be held Monday, Nov. 28, and Monday, Dec. 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Advanced Technology Center, Room 132, on the HCC campus. Instructor is Joe Cunningham.

Total cost, which includes two textbooks and handouts, is $89.
