Battalion delpoyed to Germany

November 24, 2005

In October, soldiers assigned to Company A, 729th Forward Support Battalion in Hagerstown deployed to Germany to conduct their three-week overseas deployment training. Hagerstown soldiers were joined by soldiers from the 229th Main Support Battalion in Reisterstown, Md., and soldiers from the Division Support Command in Towson, Md.

The purpose of the training exercise was to provide maintenance support to active-duty Army units training at the Combat Maneuver Training Center. Soldiers provided maintenance support on various types of military equipment including armored personnel carriers, trucks, electronic equipment and power-generation equipment.

In addition to their assigned duties, soldiers had the opportunity to travel within Germany and learn about the German culture. The deployment was filled with a combination of intensive training and trips to Berlin, Munich and Nuremburg. The soldiers trained alongside German citizens and active-duty Army soldiers.
