Infant's death being investigated



WALKERSVILLE, Md. - The death of an infant Monday in Walkersville is being investigated by the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies received an emergency call to a home in the 9000 block of Erin Avenue about 3 p.m. When they arrived, the infant was in cardiac arrest and was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital by ambulance, police said.

The infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.




One person injured in Pa. 316 crash



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - One person was seriously injured Tuesday night in an accident at the intersection of Pa. 316 (Wayne Road) and Altenwald Road, according to a Franklin County, Pa., emergency dispatcher.

The wreck happened at 6:19 p.m., the dispatcher said.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers were investigating but could not be reached. The dispatcher said troopers shut down the road to investigate the accident and because power lines were down.

The injured person was flown out for treatment, according to the dispatcher.




Motorcyclist seriously hurt in Pa. collision



SCOTLAND, Pa. - A person on a motorcycle was seriously injured Tuesday morning after hitting a Mack truck that pulled onto U.S. 11 into the motorcyclist's path, police said.

The wreck happened at 5:20 a.m. on U.S. 11 at the intersection with Sunset Pike in Greene Township, according to a press release from Pennsylvania State Police Trooper W.R. Brunner.

Police said the wreck happened when Stephen Strange, 56, of Harrisonburg, Va., pulled onto U.S. 11 from Sunset Pike to head north. Strange was driving a truck owned by North & South Trucking, police said.

The motorcyclist, who was heading south, crashed head-on into the truck. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was thrown from the bike, police said.

The motorcyclist's name was not released because police were notifying family, according to the release.

Police said the motorcycle was a Suzuki 750.




Sheriff's deputies respond to calls



The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the following calls:

A revolver valued at $1,000, two crossbows worth $550 and $340 in cash was reported stolen from a home in the 15700 block of Fenton Avenue in Williamsport. The crime was reported Monday at 11:17 p.m.

Several gas driveoffs were reported Monday just after midnight at the Sheetz store at 17550 Virginia Ave.

Two residents of the Robinwood area reported items taken from their vehicles Monday. The first was a pair of leather gloves from the 11600 block of Peacock Trail. The second was $2,000 in CDs from the 11700 block of Pheasant Trail.

Construction equipment at Broadfording Church of the Brethren, 14010 Greencastle Pike, was damaged Monday. The incident was reported at 3:06 p.m.
