Erin Haney scored a game-high 20 points to lead St. Maria Goretti to a 55-25 victory over Grace Academy in the Broadfording Lions Classic on Tuesday.

Sarah Spierenburg added 10 points for the Gaels (2-0).

Megan Cox had 13 points for Grace (1-3).




WOMEN'S BASKETBALL



Shippensburg 96, Shepherd 77



SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Tiffany Acker had 17 points, including three 3-pointers, for Shepherd in a loss to Shippensburg.

LaToya Fisher had 10 points and eight rebounds, while Laura Harkins added 16 points and three blocks for the Rams (1-2).

Shanna Oaddams had game highs of 33 points and 12 rebounds for Shippensburg (3-0).

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Chad Myers had 13 points for Shepherd in a loss to Shippensburg.

Darren Stackhouse had 12 points and six rebounds for the Rams (1-2).

Seth Scott, a Waynesboro graduate, scored a game-high 20 points for Shippensburg (1-1)

Hood 109, Mount Aloysius 89



CRESSON, Pa. - Jesse Gutekunst had 31 points and 22 rebounds to lead Hood past Mount Aloysius (2-1).

Santo Provenzano had 31 points and Darnell Edmonds dished out nine assists for Hood (2-2).

Bierbower wins age division at JFK



WILLIAMSPORT - Leon Bierbower, 70, of Chambersburg, Pa., won the men's 70-79 age division at the 43rd annual JFK 50 Mile ultramarathon Saturday.

Bierbower placed 592nd out of a record 951 finishers in 10 hours, 59 minutes, 6 seconds. It was his 11th JFK finish. His best time was 8:36:05 in 1981.

Crawford runs NYC Marathon again



NEW YORK - Robert Crawford, 56, of Cascade, recently completed the New York City Marathon for the 18th time.

He placed 28,132nd out of 37,516 runners with a time of 5 hours, 15 minutes, 3 seconds. Crawford's best time was 3:44:18 in 1994.
