Question: i have a question concerning my boyfriend. He had a peace order put against him to stay away from me.Well my parents dropped it cause we are having a child together and they want him to be around.Well the judge told him that he had to stay away from me for 3 years but that was before the peace order was droped.Him and i would like to know if we would be able to get married without him getting into trouble because of the judge telling him to stay away from me for 3 years even though the peace order is no longer in effect

Sheriff Mades: It's really hard for me to comment on this particular situation because I don't know specifically what the judge's comments to her were. Certainly, law enforcement cannot override the order of the court. I would suggest she or her attorney re-contact the court to see specifically what those guidelines were.

Question: Why wont the sheriff dept inforce traffic speeds on jefferson blvd. I am aware its the state police area but they don't enforce the speed limit either. Cant the sheriff dept write tickets if the public request enforcement of the traffic problem.

Sheriff Mades: If the problem is brought to our attention, we will certainly take the appropriate action. In the case of Route 64, that's basically a state police issue because it's a state route. It doesn't mean we can't. In fact, we do enforce the speed limits on state routes. Your problem can be addressed by calling our department and specifically asking for Capt. Robert Leatherman, who is in charge of those type of operations. He will assign a supervisor who will contact you and also assign a deputy that area of responsibility.

Question: is arresting non volent marijuana users your idea of a fair and just society, you target African-American youth in the city when i can on any given fri sat or sun see hookers and dealers walking down prospect street, i even saw a pizza guy pick one up, with his sign lit and all go around the corner and park in the alley, arrest these people and leave thouse simple pot heads alone.Do your job, not just pick on people smaller then you.

what will you do when the people who are tired of you turn back and do a paris on this city, theres 1000 'pot" heads and thats just down town.....how many are there of you?

Sheriff Mades: The city location lends itself to city police policy. I know they work a lot of street-level cases with their street crimes unit. My office basically, because the deputies are assigned to the narcotics task force, which is a combined investigative unit of DEA, HPD, MSP, work higher-level cases. I don't know of any agency that targets specific racial groups. We have to do the investigative work, submit it to the state's attorney's office for prosecution, and the courts decide the status of that individual's guilt or innocence.

Question: we want our rights back!!!!!!!!!! no more s.s style police, what do you do if we do what they do in paris?

Sheriff Mades: Our agency has never been accused of violating anyone's rights. In fact, none of our local police agencies ever use "SS" tactics. I would like to think communities would talk openly before things would occur, as you say, within Paris.

Question: i just wanted to know if the man the was driving the motorcycle on locust street is get charged with hitting the guy that was riding his bicycle.

Sheriff Mades: Again, this would be a city police issue. I suggest you contact someone at the Hagerstown Police Department, because this is public information if the individual is charged.

Question: The drugs at Williamsport HS appear to be out of control. Can't we use undercover police officers to help? It is bad. Our children say drugs are worse than ever. They also say the kids carry the drugs because the police can not check them with the K-9 Dogs. Is this true. What can we do as parents and citizens to really make a difference. I would rather see more money spent on helping our children with the drug problem than enforcing traffic violations. The kids need help -!!What should we all do?? I think the Sherrifs Department does a great job for our community. We need to give the police the room and ability to do the job-!!

Than You..
