Movies opening this week

"The Ice Harvest" (R) - It's Christmas Eve in rainy, icebound Wichita, Kansas, and Charlie Arglist (John Cusack) and Vic Cavenaugh (Billy Bob Thornton) steal $2 million from the mob. An ice storm cuts off their escape path and puts obstacles in their path throughout the night. Connie Nielsen, Oliver Platt and Randy Quaid also star.

"In the Mix" (PG-13) - Hoping to safeguard his daughter, a mafia don assigns his loyal right-hand man Darrell, to act as his daughter's bodyguard. Little does he know that Darrell and his daughter have been sweet on each other for a long time, and now, things are really going to heat up. Usher Raymond and Chazz Palminteri star.

"Just Friends" (PG-13) - When Chris, a likable, high-school loser, finally gathers the courage to reveal his love to Jamie - the girl of his dreams - she rejects him. During the ensuing years, he moves to Los Angeles, becomes successful and transforms himself into a ladies' man. Ten years later, he returns to his hometown, but when opportunity knocks, he finds it no easier to romance Jamie than he did in high school. Ryan Reynolds, Amy Smart, Anna Faris and Chris Klein star.
