Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups



Hagerstown and Frederick, Md., area. This is an anonymous, confidential support group for anyone affected by the drinking of a family member or friend. There are no fees. Call 1-301-663-6626 for a listing of meetings in the area.

Space for support groups



Julia Manor Health Care Center, 333 Mill St., Hagers-town, has space for community support groups to meet free of charge. The facility can offer a private room that holds 15 to 20 people. Interested support groups may contact Pauline McIntosh, admissions director, at 301-665-8700.

Bereavement support



A new support group for spouses will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. The group will be led by Eloise Plank, a social worker with years of experience in grief counseling. Free. Also, an ongoing support group for parents who have lost a child of any age meets Mondays at 4 p.m. and is accepting new members. This group is led by Mary Hedges, a clinical social worker. Both groups are free and are sponsored by Rest Haven Cemetery. Call 301-733-3575.
