The Adamses



Bill and Barbara Adams of Middletown, Md., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Ostertag Vistas. The event was hosted by their children and spouses - Nelson and Sharon Hipkins; Bill and Lynann Adams; Tom and Karen Sullivan; and Charlie and Nancy Adams - and their 11 grandchildren. Approximately 95 friends and family members joined in the celebration.

Bill Adams and the former Barbara Sprankle were married at the Reformed Church of Christ in Hagerstown by the Rev. F.D. Eyster on July 31, 1955.

Mrs. Adams retired from the U.S. Postal Service.

Mr. Adams retired from the Maryland State Roads Department.

The Bracketts



Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Brackett of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at a surprise party at Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Hagerstown. The event was hosted by Mr. Brackett's brother Mickey and wife Pat Brackett, niece Angela and her husband, Jon Shimer. Forty-nine friends and relatives attended the celebration.

The Bracketts were married Sept. 17, 1955, at New Street Methodist Church in Shepherdstown, W.Va., by the Rev. Melvin Hughson.

Mrs. Brackett is the former Naomi Ruth Potts, daughter of the late James and Gleadith Potts. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Brackett is the son of the late James and Bernice Brackett. He retired from employment with the federal government in Martinsburg, W.Va., in 1987.

The Roses



Melvin and Phyllis Rose celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 25, 2005, at the wedding of their grandson, Caleb Rose, in Huntington, W.Va. They later celebrated at a party at the Greencastle Antrim House Restaurant in Greencastle, Pa., hosted by their family.

The Roses were married June 25, 1955, at a Methodist church in Frederick, Md.

Phyllis Rose is a homemaker.

Melvin Rose retired from Mack Trucks Inc.

The Smiths



Dick and Pat (Switzer) Smith celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 23, 2005, at a surprise dinner party. The event was hosted by their children, Kathy, Kelly and Kevin, and their children's families. Many friends and relatives attended the celebration, including relatives from as far away as Annapolis and North Carolina.

The Smiths were married Aug. 15, 1955, by the Rev. James Horn.

Mrs. Smith is the daughter of the late G. Harold and Violet Switzer. She was employed by the Board of Education for 27 years as an instructional assistant, retiring in 2000.

Mr. Smith is the son of the late Lola Smith. He was employed with Spicher's Appliance for 30 years, retiring in 1998.

They live in their new home in Cold Spring Estates, Waynesboro, Pa.
