Navy Seaman James E. Terrebonne, nephew of Randall A. and Sharon L. Fouch of Martinsburg, W.Va., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Terrebonne is a 2003 graduate of John F. Kennedy High School in New Orleans.




Navy Petty Officer 1st Class George J. Mayo, whose wife, Amanda, is the daughter of Louise and William G. Mills of Frederick, Md., returned from a seven-month deployment to Iraq while assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 24 homebased in Huntsville, Ala.




Navy Seaman Recruit Kenneth S. Akehurst III, son of Carol W. and Kenneth S. Akehurst of Chambersburg, Pa., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

Akehurst is a 2005 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.




Air National Guard Capt. Dustin K. Ganley, son of Joseph and Judith Ganley of Middletown, Md., is currently deployed overseas at a forward operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Ganley is a medical service corps officer regularly assigned to the 167th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, Martinsburg, W.Va.

His wife, Cathleen, is the daughter of Herbert and Gail Brann of Frederick, Md.

Ganley graduated in 1987 from Middletown High School, and received a bachelor's degree in 1992 from West Virginia University, Morgantown.




Army Sgt. 1st Class Donald W. Kane Jr., son of Paula A. Piper of Salem Avenue in Hagerstown, has deployed overseas to a forward operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Kane, a scout platoon sergeant, is normally assigned to the 4th Battalion, 14th Cavalry, Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska. He has served in the military for 15 years.

Kane is a 1990 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.




Navy Seaman Recruit Jewelryana J. Rose, a 2005 graduate of Brunswick (Md.) High School, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.




Marine Corps Reserve Lance Cpl. Nathan F. Alleman, a 2002 graduate of Chambersburg (Pa.) Area Senior High School, recently was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal while serving as a combat tank repair mechanic assigned to 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Boise, Idaho.

Alleman was instrumental in ensuring the unit's overall combat readiness.

He also volunteered for 13 funeral details, three color guards and two static displays.




Coast Guard Seaman Taylor Andersen, daughter of Debbie S. and Keith E. Andersen of Frederick, Md., recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.




Marine Corps Pfc. R. Scott Mumma, son of Tammy K. Mumma of Hagerstown, and Ron and Deborah Mumma of Mercersburg, Pa., completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C.

Mumma is a 2005 graduate of Williamsport High School.
