November 14, 2005

HALFWAY - Three Baltimore residents were charged with theft Thursday after Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies said they allegedly stole $3,000 in merchandise at Valley Mall.

Karyl N. Tilghman, 33, of 2829 Scarbourough Road; Michael K. Stockton, 31, of 1917 W. Lanvale St., and Earlene L. Garner, 26, of 2002 Penrose Ave., each were charged with felony theft, deputies said.

A witness saw a person steal items from Victoria's Secret, and followed the person out of the mall where the person met two others, deputies said.

All three went out of the mall with several bags full of clothing and went back into the mall with no bags, deputies said.

The witness saw the three leave the mall in a tan van, which deputies later stopped on Interstate 70 east of Black Rock Road, police said.

About $3,000 in stolen merchandise was found in the vehicle, deputies said. All of the clothing had price tags attached, and a few of the items were still on hangers, deputies said.

No receipts were recovered.
