The Adamses

Bill and Barbara Adams of Middletown, Md., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Ostertag Vistas. The event was hosted by their children and spouses - Nelson and Sharon Hipkins; Bill and Lynann Adams; Tom and Karen Sullivan; and Charlie and Nancy Adams - and 11 grandchildren. Approximately 95 friends and family members joined in the celebration.

Bill Adams and the former Barbara Sprankle were married at the Reformed Church of Christ in Hagerstown by the Rev. F.D. Eyster July 31, 1955.

Mrs. Adams retired from the U.S. Postal Serevice.

Mr. Adams retired from the Maryland State Roads Department.

The Adamses have 11 grandchildren.

The Moatses

Charles and Lavada Moats of Hagerstown celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary Tuesday, June 21, 2005, with Adele and Otis Brakeall in Booth Bay, Maine, including a visit to Mount Washington, N.H.

They were married in June 1947 at St. Lutheran Church in Clear Spring by the Rev. Hare.


Mrs. Moats is the former Lavada Suder, daughter of the late Emory and Goldie Suder. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Moats is the son of the late Howard and Edith Moats. He served during World War II on landing ship tanks 49 and 500, transporting troops to Normandy Beach. He retired from Pangborn in 1982.

The Moatses had two sons, Frederick R. Moats, who died in 1987; and Charles Moats, who died in 1990.
