Interfaith Coalition to explore Islam

November 11, 2005

Islam will be explored as a world religion when the Interfaith Coalition of Washington County continues its series of classes on Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Hagerstown YMCA.

The instructor will be Karen Gray, a religious scholar trained at the Harvard Divinity School in Boston and the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She lives and teaches in Washington County.

The community is invited to join in studying the major world religions with a focus on representing these traditions with appreciation, respect and understanding.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, other traditions will be explored at the same time and location with Gray as the instructor.

The mission of the Interfaith Coalition is to bring together members of the Jewish, Islamic, Christian and other faith traditions for the purpose of strengthening community and building tolerance and civility among all people.
