Joey Hemphill and Chris Mills, staff members at Ravenwood Lutheran Village, recently were honored as winners of the Washington County yearly awards hosted by the Director of Nursing Association.
Hemphill was named Registered Nurse of the Year while Mills was named Geriatric Nursing Assistant of the Year.
"Every nursing home in Washington County has the opportunity to participate in this program so this a pretty prestigious award for these women to win," said Amy Olack, director of the nursing care center at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
"I've been working at Ravenwood for six years now and I just really like what I do. I was so surprised when I found out I won GNA of the Year. It really meant a lot to me," Mills said.
Both women were nominated by their peers at Ravenwood based on their skills, hard-working nature and compassion towards residents.
"It is such an honor to work with such dedicated, caring individuals. Joey and Chris are outstanding team players at Ravenwood's nursing care center. The teamwork, commitment, and faith in one another at Ravenwood make all of us winners. I am so proud of the contributions Joey and Chris have made to the nursing care center over the years. They are definitely role models for future generations that wish to touch the lives of others," Olack said.
