Area roundup - Top-seed Fort Hill no match for Wildcats

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Lea Drury had 28 assists to lead Williamsport past top-seed Fort Hill 25-23, 25-19, 25-14 in the Maryland Class 1A West semifinals Wednesday evening, setting up a rematch of last year's 1A West final against Boonsboro.

Sammi Snodderly had nine kills, and Lacie Johnson had nine kills and 17 digs for the Wildcats (13-3), the defending three-time Class 1A state champions.

Liberty 3, South Hagerstown 0

ELDERSBURG, Md. - Brittany Hyatt had nine assists, five kills and 12 digs, but the Rebels fell to the top-seeded Lions, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

Marisa Bender had five blocks and six service points, Lindsay Steiner had 10 digs and six service points, Caitlin Nicewarner had three kills and three blocks and China Miller added five blocks and four kills for the Rebels, who end their season at 10-7.


Catoctin 3, Havre de Grace 2

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. - Monie Cuddahee had 20 service points, five aces and 11 assists as Catocin squeezed past Havre de Grace 25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 23-25, 16-14 in the Maryland Class 1A South semifinals.

Becky Peters had 12 service points, two aces, 11 kills and 19 digs, while Becky Cuddahee added 10 kills and 20 digs for the Cougars (11-6).

Thomas Johnson 3, Perry Hall 0

FREDERICK, Md. - Bethany Springer had 15 service points, six aces, 11 kills and 10 digs as Thomas Johnson cruised past Perry Hall 25-17, 25-15, 25-10 in the Class 4A North semifinals.

Cassie Zaleski had 14 service points, 25 assists and six digs for the Patriots (15-1). Lauren Cline had eight service points, six aces and five kills, Sara Hanlon had nine kills and Chelsea Boice added eight digs.

Thomas Johnson will meet Dulaney in the regional final Friday at 6 p.m.
