Ambrose leading Helman in Pa. school board contest

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Former Greene Township Supervisor Paul Ambrose was the apparent winner over incumbent and write-in candidate Robert Helman Tuesday night in the Region One race for the Chambersburg School Board, according to complete but unofficial results.

Ambrose, who won both the Republican and Democratic nominations in the May 17 primary, had 765 votes with all five precincts from Lurgan, Letterkenny and Greene townships reporting. According to the individual precinct results, Ambrose's total of all votes cast was higher than 50 percent in all but one, Greene Three.

Ambrose's highest percentage total was 70 percent in Letterkenny One, according to election figures.

After losing in the primaries, Helman announced he would run a write-in campaign. Helman was running for a fourth four-year term on the school board.
