Students donate to hurricane relief

Congratulations to the students of Maugansville Elementary School. They donated a total of $1,016.13 to the American Red Cross Katrina Relief fund.

PTA meeting

The Maugansville Elementary PTA meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Center.

Treasure Sale

The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts will hold its annual Treasure Sale on Nov. 12. The Singer Society, the museum's volunteer committee, greatly appreciates the community's involvement in this yearly fundraiser. Come in for the Preview Reception on Nov. 11, and the Treasure Sale on Nov. 12.


On Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m., Maugansville Elementary School will be celebrating Winterfest. The entire family is invited for an evening of holiday songs performed by the Maugansville After School Center, tasty treats, crafts, and a special visit from Santa Claus. The festivities will be held in the school cafeteria. Photographs with Jolly Old St. Nick will be taken in the Media Center for $1. The Secret Santa Shop will also be open on the stage following the program for your shopping needs.


No time for holiday baking? Then fill up your cookie jars that evening from the Maugansville PTA Bake Sale.

Spaghetti feast

The Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner on Saturday Nov. 12, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Maugansville Fire Hall. Dinner includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, Italian bread, tossed salad and beverage. Admission is $5 for adults 13 and up, $3 for children ages 6-12 and children under 5 eat for free. Baked goods will also be available. Proceeds will benefit the Maugansville Goodwill Fire Department. Stop by and support this worthy cause!!

Basket, pottery bingo

There will be a Basket and Pottery Bingo on November 13, at the Maugansville Fire Co. to benefit Maugansville Little League. The doors open at noon and bingo starts at 1 pm. The cost is $20 for 20 games and four bonus games. Concessions will be available, along with tip jars and raffles. For more information or tickets, contact Carol at 301-733-8843.


Lois Walton recently celebrated her 87th birthday with her son Bob and his wife, Virginia, as well as many family members. The Waltons hosted the big day with relatives from Baltimore, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York.

Bonus Card

I'd like to ask for the help of anyone out there who shops at Martin's Food Market to contact me to sign up your Bonus Card to support our school. It doesn't cost you a cent. I'll do the work for you.

Bun fundraiser

Keep in mind Western Heights Middle School will be holding a cinnamon bun fundraiser. Orders will begin Nov. 23. Feel free to call me if you'd like one, they are just $3. Orders will be available in mid-December.
